Freezing Preparation: Prior to beginning the freezing project, the stallion must be cleaned out of all residual sperm. If CQH does the clean out collections, they are $100.00 each and are usually preformed on consecutive days. If the stallion has never been collected, CQH can train the horse to use the phantom. Phantom training is $125.00 per collection. The number of cleanouts or phantom training sessions varies and depends on the individual stallion. Semen Freezing: Test Freeze: $500.00 The test freeze is the first freeze of the project. Semen is collected and frozen using several different protocols to determine which procedure produces the best results. The test freeze includes an objective post-thaw semen. Each Additional Freeze: $450.00 Frozen Semen Storage: CQH stores semen in special cryogenic liquid containers maintained at -196C. Semen intended for export is stored in separate tanks from that intended for domestic distribution. Each tank is physically inspected once a week to ensure the proper level of liquid nitrogen. A detailed log is maintained on each tank. Storage is billed yearly.
Frozen Semen Distribution: The standard fee to ship frozen semen domestically (and Canada) is $300.00. This includes FedEx 2 day to the mare owner or veterinarian, tank rental, administration fee and FedEx 2 day of the tank back to CQH. An $950 refundable deposit for the shipping tank is assessed for each shipment. All shipments are insured for $950, the cost of the container. If the semen is to be shipped internationally, CQH charges a $250 handling fee for exports. This included the necessary health certificates, permits, as well as coordination with all involved parties. Tank rental for international shipments is $100.00. Stallion Owner must also pay the cost of shipping container to and from export country. |
